THE GOOD FORTUNE OF KERN FISCHER
Being born in the U.S. as a white male.
Being born to a mother that neither drank or smoked.
The name my Mother gave me.
Growing up in a small town. 
Growing up in a family of modest means - learning the value of money and earning my own.
Having a brother to share the experiences of growing up.
Learning in my teens that drinking and smoking were not desirable ingredients of life.
Having Mr. Conley as a high school advisor/teacher.
Being able to jump off the corn dusting machine when it turned over.
Being accepted into and graduating from the General Motors Institute.
Being able to swim to shore when I fell off a sail boat without a life vest.
Getting a job at Curtiss-Wright Corporation and meeting Janet.
Meeting Harry Ward at Chevrolet Engineering. Getting involved in
import car sports and buying the Mini-Cooper.
Learning early in my career growth that chasing money was not what was desired.
Being offered a works Ford Falcon Sprint to run in car rallies.
Being involved in a crash with the Falcon that could have been head-on but was not,
due to the action of the other driver.
As a result of the crash, being motivated to learn to be a more skilled driver.
Buying the Glastron JetFlite - a relatively rare boat - and keeping it.
Marrying Janet.
Being able to afford to attend night school for my BSME and MBA degrees.
Having three healthy girls.
Being hired by the Maremont Corporation and moving to the Chicago area.
Having a nice home in a semi-rural area.
Being closer to my parents in Iowa and in a better market for the later business activities.
Being fired at Maremont Corporation.
Having adequate resources to start a business full time - getting out of the big corporate world.
Hiring Wayne Allen as our first employee. A great worker and good friend.
Being able to design the business to suit my personality and my hobbies.
Meeting Jim Buckland - a sponsor of an autocross car that was also used as a daily driver and company car early in the life of my company.
He was a motorsports friend until his early death.
Building the warehouse - accumulating equity.
Finding Zoe in the Arizona desert and having her for 16 years.
Becoming a performance driving instructor at BMWCCA driving schools.
Getting free track time and getting to ride in and drive a variety of performance cars.
Meeting a wide variety of interesting people.
Meeting Gary Milgrom - sharing many conversations.
Being coached by Rajiv Ball to start an investment program which has performed well.
Becoming a performance driving instructor at Track Time driving schools
and receiving free track time, additional interesting cars.
Being flown to new and interesting tracks.
Creating the SATCAR road racing format.
Meeting Wayne Seely - a great help in organizing and running SATCAR events.
Having doctors and nurses who helped me beat cancer twice.

Adopting Max, a Lakeland Terrier from a rescue shelter.
Having the time and resources to rebuild/restore/update the Glastron JetFlite.
Moving to Kimberling City, MO with proximity to and a nice view of Table Rock Lake.
Being able to purchase and own some unusual, interesting and capable cars.
Having the resources to be able to enjoy financial stress free autumn years.
Being able to remodel the house to our desires and tastes.
Being able to build a new garage/workshop/storage building.
Receiving a nice inheritance from my parents.
Having a brother and sister, neither of whom is greedy - we all get along well - a tribute to
the values given us by our parents and that we are all OK with our lives.
